The least a VGA switch should do when you change output from device (i.e. computer) A to device B is to trick A into believing there is still a monitor connected to it. But there's no electronics at all inside this thing, just a couple of hard-clicking switches which physically force-connect/disconnect the VGA lines from the inputs to the output. So the video source which is not being used gets connected to nothing, and some hardware/OS combinations may misbehave under such circumstances. On top of that, only the video signals get through this switch. VGA data lines required for device identification (EDID) are not connected at all, so if your devices are not capable to force a video resolution get ready to manually reconfigure it at every switching, or just put up with a downgraded VESA resolution. It's a cheap device after all, might be of most usefulness when used with older non-HD hardware like CRTs.
